it's the encroachment of mediocrity, the exposure of the lack of critical training of our audiences.
it's becoming the custom, standing almost equals just clapping. i think people stand because they are bored with the length of the clapping and/or just want to get up and stretch.
no one's ever challenged my not-standing as that woman did this writer, and i'd probably be pretty peeved to have to explain myself.

It's sort of like Bs and As in college. They've become so run of the mill now, when you get one it's like "Who gives a rat's ass."
